Polish squadrons flying RAF Lancaster bombers from England during WW2?
I am trying to gain an idea which airfield(s) housed squadrons with Polish Air Force pilots who were flying Avro Lancaster bombers for the RAF in World War Two, after recently finding out that my great uncle flew as a rear gunner in Lancaster bombers which had Polish Air Force markings applied to them. Unfortunately I am unsure of the exact years in which my uncle served, but any help would be appreciated in finding out the airfield or sqadron number. Thanks very much.
The only Polish squadron that flew Lancasters was 300 (Masovian) Sqn. Here is the Polish Airforce Operations Record Book which details missions, aircraft and pilots for 300 Sqn. And a more detailed history of 300 Sqn.
As your uncle flew Lancasters he had to be serving after March 1944,as this is when they were issued the aircraft. He, therefore, served at RAF Faldingworth in Lincolnshire.
