Which Battle Tank would win in a stand off the very old german jagdtiger or the m1 abrams?
it would be at a distance and i know the jagdtiger has more armor and the penetration is incredible with its 128mm. The M1 has less armor but it can shoot faster and go faster. But then again at a distance it wouldn’t really matter. I would say jagdtiger

The M1 has considerably better armor than the old Jagdtiger, is an order-of-magnitude more manueverable and has a much more effective weapon system. The M1 can kill the Jagdtiger at any range at which it can see it – without having to stop. The Jagdtiger could likely only achieve a kill with a flank or rear shot at close range, which is never going to happen.
As in most of these “out-of-time” scenario’s the old boy just doesn’t stand a chance. The Jagdtiger wasn’t even that good when it was new.
As for the “incredible penetration” of the Jagdtiger’s 12.8cm KwK 44 gun was credited with the ability to penetrate 200 mm of FHA at a 60-deg angle at 2,000 meters range. Impressive in 1945 perhaps but that isn’t enough to achieve a frontal penetration on the Abrams. The M1′s armor was designed to provide a high degree of protection from the earlier rounds fired by the Soviet 125 mm tank gun which could penetrate 250-300 mm armor plate, with more modern ammunition effectively doubling that.
By comparison the M1′s 120mm M256 gun firing the old M829 APFSDS-T round will penetrate 540 mm of RHA at 2,000 meters. The Jagdtiger has 150 mm thick conventional armor on the glacis plate and 250 mm thick on the front of the casemate. In essence, it is less well protected than the T-72′s that M1′s were blowing out of the desert with ease as far back as 1991 (200 mm glacis, 400 mm turret front).
